Welcome to the Schaumburg, IL chapter of the Mars Society

The purpose of the Schaumburg Chapter of the Mars Society is promote the exploration and settlement of Mars. This will be done by:

  1. Sponsoring programs that educate and inform the community about the benefits of missions to Mars.

  2. Working with area civic groups, schools and museums to host Mars-related programs.

  3. Supporting an aggressive approach to the funding of Mars exploration programs around the world.

  4. Conducting Mars exploration on a private basis.

If you are the leader of a civic group, school, astronomy club, or museum that is located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, please contact the Mars Society of Schaumburg to learn how we can provide you with educational programming about Mars.

NOTE: You can only enter the parking lot for the Vogelei Park Barn while going west on Higgins. If you miss the entrance the firs time you will have to loop around and come back.

The presentation "Mars As Art" looks at the planet Mars on an artistic level using digital images of the planet taken by the Mars Global Surveyor. Included is an overview of the MGS mission and camera, a selection of processed images of the martian surface, and a selection of the digital art created by the speaker out of several MGS images.
